Visit the Arctic Alert website

Frost bites still visual on my thighs and finger tips numb, I am preparing for my next expedition Arctic Alert Greenland. In less then a month John van Giels and I will be flying to 70 degrees north latitude to the village of Uummannaq - investigating the impact of climate change on the Inuit. From Uummannaq we ski onto the icecap and ski south hopefully to a scientist camp near Illuissat where we will report about the moulins in the icecap and the research they are conducting. We will film for a Dutch educational tv station and post a blog on this website along with blogs on ArticAlert.nl, de Volkskrant and Mountain Hardwear.
I am barely recovered from the South Pole and the media hype and could think of less stressful, warmer places to go but Greenland needs attention and am looking forward to spend time with my friends up north. So it is back to pulling tires, ordering food (this time we are sponsored by a chef and eat organic foods) sort gear, and work out out the millions of details. One more week left in Canada - then off to Holland for more media ( I am taking part in a series on climate change on tv) and then pack our sledges panic about our overweight and how it is going to fit in the helicopters but expeditions always have a way of working itself out - why would this be any different? At least I am not on a diet; eating double servings of dessert, slap butter on my toast and drink beer, lots of it --
