Alaska Rendezvous Heli Ski Guides

Theo Meiners founded Alaska Rendezvous Heli Ski Guides, located 45 miles northeast of Valdez, AK in 2001. Known as The Rendezvous, it is located in an area referred by local residents as the Blue Hole of Thompson Pass for its clear weather and more flyable ski days.

Meiners, known as ‘The Wizard’, has more than 5,000 descents in the Chugach Range and has spent 17 springs on Thompson Pass. His knowledge of the terrain, understanding of the snow and alive personality is what makes The Rendezvous a destination. It has become a family business, managed by his daughter Alexandra with son Aidan guiding. The hands-on family approach demonstrates their passion for skiing and long-term dedication to The Rendezvous, heli skiing and Thompson Pass.

The Rendezvous’ location is also home to The Alaska Rendezvous Lodge, providing 19 beds to guests and an excellent restaurant. It was Meiners vision to have all guests and employees in one location, fostering a family atmosphere; because of this 65 percent of guests are return customers.

Meiners purchased The Rendezvous, known as The Old Serendipity Lodge, after working five years for Doug and Emily Coombs. He spent the next few years pouring himself into the 27 acres, renovating and hand building many of the buildings that are located on the property.
