Outdoor Diva Pam Roy
I am nominating Pam because she is the most passionate hiker with whom I have had the opportunity to spend time.
Her love of the outdoors is evident the moment she gets to the mountains. Her ability to appreciate the beauty around her and to share that with those she goes hiking with is evident whenever she is surrounded by the peaks and trails that she hikes upon.
Her passion for hiking has extended to significant contributions in volunteerism in the outdoors. She spends more than 2 weeks a year doing trail work for local trail groups. She was a volunteer "Meadow Rover-Greeter" at Mt. Rainier National Park and she was one of the top fundraisers the last 2 years for the Washington Trails Association's annual Hike-a-thon.
She seems to be able to appreciate both the beauty of being in the mountains as well enjoy the physical challenge of doing a 28 mile long day hike.
Pam is a diva in the truest sense as over 15 years ago she was involved in a serious car accident that threatened her ability to ever get back to her true passion of hiking.
To this day she is grateful for her recovery and the joy she gets from connecting with the outdoors.
