We were just 3 guys who got together on a regular basis for hiking on the New Hampshire White Mountains. Jim, Tim, and Pearce (me) would get together to knock out our list of the New Hampshire 48 4000 footers. So many people had an opinion of our list, our reason for climbing and hiking, the conditions of the harsh winters, and attempted to make us justify our goals more concretely..... Mount Rainier became the answer. When I turned 30, my wife gave me the green light to pursue a big mountain. Rainier had been a life long dream and seemed like a world away from the soft confines of our icy white mountains in New Hampshire. My friends Jim and Tim hopped on board the wagon with me and we all of a sudden had even more reasons to continue our hikes and our gathering together.
Our journey is really not about gear, or lists, or capturing summits. All these things were great and I am happy that we are so often able to summit, but our journey was about our friendship. The summits gave us an excuse to do it. Our gear allowed us to do it safely and comfortably. We have slowly been able to build up our cache of gear and replacing it with quality Mountain Hardwear products whenever able. Despite being exceptionally critical as well as harsh of our gear, I haven't returned an MHW product yet. MHW continues to impress us with their lineups as well as their thoughtfulness in intentionally putting together a quality product that is wearable, comfortable, and functional. One example is in our Synchro Jacket. All 3 of us have a Synchro jacket. We look like the Bopsy twins, but the product rocks!! MHW comes through again. On our way down from the summit of Rainier, we hit a few hours of rain and sleet. I mentioned to one of my buddies how it would have been nice if the Synchro came with a hood....he looked at me, agreeing, and told me that he just saw one at the store prior to our departure. It was as if MHW was in my head or something, anticipating the needs of our adventures and mounting the task of having the product available....If only I could get my current Synchro to wear out to justify the next one!! Thanks for all of your hard work at making a great gear. In the attached slide show which borderlines as a MHW TV commercial if you look how our group is dressed, you will see our matching Synchro jackets!! (Bopsy Twins on the side of Rainier!!)
