Mountain Hardwear is pleased to announce a new multi -year partnership with the Psicobloc Masters, to sponsor the annual event, bringing a new level of excitement to the world-class competition.
The 2016 Psicobloc Masters is a three-day climbing event, to be held at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah on August 3-5 2016. Professional and amateur climbers from around the globe will converge on a 55-foot climbing wall with a mind-blowing 25-foot overhang above the 750,000-gallon freestyle aerial training pool. Competitors will battle it out, before thousands of spectators, with no ropes or harnesses, to see who can climb the wall the fastest, or who can get to the highest point before dropping to the pool below.
“To me, Psicobloc is quickly becoming the face of an evolving movement in the world of climbing,” said John Walbrecht, Mountain Hardwear’s president. “The energy created in Park City over those 3 days each year is a unique celebration of the history and the future of this amazing sport. I can not think of an event that better fits the DNA of the Mountain Hardwear brand and I look forward to supporting the Psicobloc vision for years to come.”
Psicobloc Operations Director Annie Trujillo added,
“Psicobloc embodies the attributes we love the most about climbing: commitment, athleticism, camaraderie, and the focus to overcome fear. We love the kinship that forms between the spectators and athletes. We are incredibly grateful for the awesome athletes who compete, all of our sponsors, and especially for the unbelievable excitement Mountain Hardwear is bringing to the table as our title sponsor for 2016!”
In coordination with Psicobloc, Mountain Hardwear will also host Psico Hour, a live Q&A session in its booth at Outdoor Retailer on Wednesday August 3rd.
“As a Mountain Hardwear athlete and long-time competition climber, it is exciting to see the company supporting an event like Psicobloc. I am looking forward to watching the event continue to grow and evolve through this new partnership!” said Angie Payne, who will compete at this year’s Psicobloc, alongside fellow MHW athlete Ethan Pringle.
Pringle added, “I think Psicobloc is an amazing and unique event that represents the core of the climbing community. Of all the deep-water soloing comps around the world, Psicobloc is the biggest and most energetic. I’m sure this year’s event will be bigger and more badass then ever before.”
