Here’s what American Alpine Institute Guide Andy Stephens had to say…
Celebrate the Journey.
Climbing is a way for people to push their boundaries on many different planes of existence at one time. It is an exploration into the soul, mind and body, and the way all three interact together. It is a journey, and regardless of your ability or experience level, there are always new skills to build and new awarenesses to be reached. The Red Rock Rendezvous is a celebration of the journey.
Great Place to Start. Even Better Place to Push it.
More than just the clinics and learning opportunities, it is also a way to connect with other climbers from across the country and the world, meet your favorite athlete, get schwag from some awesome brands, dance, and drink beer! If you are new to climbing, or have only climbed indoors, the Rendezvous is a perfect place to start. The clinics are led by some of the strongest and most knowledgeable climbers in the world, and many climbers leave the Rendezvous with new partners, and the skills to begin climbing outdoors.
Red Rock Canyon is Epic.
Red Rock Canyon is one of the best places in the country to learn how to climb, as well as develop your skills. There are clinics for any ability level, across many different styles- face climbing, crack climbing, off-width climbing, bouldering, multi-pitch, sport, trad, and more. After a day of climbing, relaxing with a beverage in the Spring Mountain Ranch at the mouth of beautiful Sandstone Canyon is awesome. There is also live music, a dyno competition, games and contests for free gear.
Climbers Meet Climbers.
Throughout the event, and afterwards, there are guides available to take climbers out on multi-pitch routes deeper in the canyons and help solidify the new skills you learned. The fun atmosphere, combined with the awesome clinics and the chance to meet new people to get out and share the journey with is what really makes the Rendezvous rad.
